Getting the best cold brew
Coarse grind, long steep
Cold brew uses a coarse grind and a long, slow steep — 12 to 18 hours. The cold water extracts sweetness and body while leaving behind much of the acidity and bitterness, which is what makes cold brew so smooth.
Ratio and dilution
Brew a concentrate at around 1:8 — roughly 100g of coffee to 800ml of water — then dilute the finished concentrate with water or milk to taste, often about 1:1. Brewing concentrate gives you flexibility and keeps longer.
Which coffees to choose
Sweet, fruit-forward, low-acid coffees make the best cold brew — La Vida Mango, Black Honey, and Banana Fermented turn into wonderfully smooth, juicy glasses over ice.
Storing cold brew
Keep the concentrate sealed in the fridge and it will stay good for one to two weeks. Dilute just before serving so each glass tastes fresh.
Frequently asked questions
Sweet, fruit-forward, low-acid coffees — La Vida Mango, Black Honey, and Banana Fermented all make excellent cold brew.
A coarse grind. Finer grinds make the brew muddy and harder to strain.
Around 1:8 for a concentrate — about 100g of coffee to 800ml of water — then dilute to taste.
12 to 18 hours. Longer makes it stronger; much beyond 18 hours can turn woody.
Yes — cold extraction pulls far less acid, which is why cold brew tastes smooth and is gentle on the stomach.
The concentrate is strong, but once diluted it’s similar to regular coffee. Undiluted concentrate is potent, so dilute to taste.
The concentrate keeps sealed in the fridge for one to two weeks.
Whole bean if you can grind coarse. Otherwise choose the cold brew / coarse grind at checkout.
