How to choose single origin coffee
What “single origin” actually means
Single origin means the coffee comes from one source — for us, a single estate — rather than being blended across farms or countries. That traceability is the point: a single origin tastes of a specific place, and you can follow it back to the farm, altitude, and process behind it. Blends are built for consistency; single origins are built for character.
Why estate and altitude matter
Coffee grown higher and slower develops more sugar and more complex flavour. Our estates in Coorg and Chikkamagaluru sit at roughly 3,000–3,900 ft, which is why these coffees taste clean and layered rather than flat. The estate’s soil, shade, and microclimate all leave a mark — that’s terroir, and it’s what makes each single origin distinct.
Reading the flavour notes
The tasting notes on each product are a genuine guide, not marketing. Fruity, floral notes usually mean a lighter roast and a natural or fermented process. Chocolate, nut, and caramel notes point to a fuller body and a medium roast. Use the notes to match a coffee to what you already enjoy.
Matching origin to brew method
Single origins are at their most expressive through clean methods. Pour over and AeroPress highlight fruit, florals, and acidity. French press and moka pot bring out body and chocolate. If you drink your coffee black, single origin filter is where these coffees truly shine.
Freshness still matters
Even the finest single origin fades if it sits too long after roasting. We roast to order, so buy an amount you’ll finish within four to six weeks, store it airtight and cool, and grind just before brewing for the best cup.

Not better, different. Single origins offer distinct, traceable character; blends are built for balance and consistency. If you enjoy exploring flavour, single origin is the more rewarding choice.

Pour over or AeroPress bring out the clarity and origin character best, though richer origins also work well in a French press.
